We have been closed again since November 2nd, 2020.

We hope not for too long!

We've been plowing since the reopening in May

to compensate for the losses and to continue to exist.

Our building evenings did not and will not take place.

The calendar was full until Christmas, but we were and are allowed to go

do nothing for partly incomprehensible reasons.

Hygiene concepts were created and implemented.

We would have to collect the data of our guests in order to

to enable tracking of contacts.

We felt like sheriff and deputy sheriff.

Our London graphic office had already designed sheriff stars just for fun .....

All for free!

What the current numbers prove:

As the restaurants are closed and the numbers keep increasing,

cannot have been the source of infection here.

Our financial losses are very big as a result ..........

Fast and uncomplicated help was promised:

November aid is the magic word.

75% of sales of November sales last year

Sounds very good, but:

What has happened so far, or rather, what has not happened?

The short-time working allowance including social contributions will be deducted from this sum.

(These must first be interpreted by the employer. Only in the new month can they apply for reimbursement at the employment agency. And there was something else we did wrong: At that time we sent the applications for our two restaurants in one envelope. The application for the hilltop was processed, for our other restaurant allegedly no application was received and had to be submitted later. Since we are still capable of learning, the applications for November were sent individually by registered mail to the agency on December 1st, 2020. What happened ?

Kuppe had arrived and was being processed, Anno application had not arrived or could not be found and had to be submitted again. Until today no money has come! But that's just by the way!)

From what is left of the above sum I got half! Thanks !

And we haven't heard or received anything from the rest of the November aid.

And what about December and January? Nobody knows....

We have to do the pay slip by Monday (21.12.2020) at the latest so that the health insurances can get their money this month and we can then apply for the reimbursement in January. And the game starts all over again.

Shut down and Lockdown : Meaning in English

The word Shut down means in English " the closure of a factory, store, or other company, either for a short time or forever "

The word Lockdown mean in English " State of isolation, containment, or restricted access normally introduced as a security measure "

Our English friend just pointed out the following to us:

"Lockdown is a foreign word in English too!
It was first used in the US in the 1970s.
This meant that prisoners were locked in their cells for most of the day as a temporary security measure.
Like the Germans, the English could certainly have found a more appropriate native phrase without resorting to American prison jargon.
As English is such a rich and varied language, why are we happy to adopt American slang? 🤬? "
